2026 Amazons Australia: The Wet Tropics Deliver an Epic Showcase of Strength

The second edition of The Amazons Australia All-Women’s Adventure Race is officially in the books, and what a spectacular three days it was! From the roaring waters of the Tully Gorge to the iconic shores of Dunk Island, the Cassowary Coast served up classic Wet Tropics weather—throwing torrential downpours, ferocious headwinds, and pounding surf at the field.

But true to the Amazonian spirit, nothing could deter these athletes. In an extraordinary display of teamwork, grit, and navigation strategy, 100% of the teams who started the event successfully crossed the finish line each day.

Whether battling a gruelling downwinder paddle, navigating tricky checkpoints through the cane fields, weaving coconut headbands at mystery challenges, or unexpectedly getting stranded at a Dunk Island resort bar (wedding crashers, we see you!), every single competitor stepped well outside her comfort zone this weekend. You are all true Amazons!

A massive thank you to our incredible water safety crews, volunteers, event partners, and the Cassowary Coast Regional Council. We are thrilled to confirm that The Amazons Australia will officially return to the region in 2027 as part of our ongoing three-year partnership!

See you all back on the Cassowary Coast in 2027!
